San Marino has ratified and operates in full compliance with the IMO STCW Convention, as amended, and the MLC 2006 Convention.
There are no restrictions on the nationality of seafarers or shipowners, and the San Marino Administration issues endorsements to seafarers with a Certificate of Competency by countries in the IMO STCW white list.
Moreover, San Marino offers limited Certificates of Competency for Yacht Masters.

Digital electronic certificates allow for quick delivery times, with fewer burdens linked to original paper certificates delivered to ports. Paperwork and bureaucracy are reduced to the minimum necessary to satisfy international requirements. Seafarer discharge procedures are also kept to a minimum.
